Kwabena Agyepong Pushes for Early NPP Flagbearer Election by December 2025
Kwabena Agyepong urges the NPP to make an early decision on its flagbearer to promote party unity, strengthen its foundation, and ensure a strong showing in the 2028 elections
- Agyepong stresses the importance of selecting the NPP’s flagbearer early
- An early election will ease internal party disputes and promote unity within the NPP
- With a flagbearer in place, the party can concentrate on expanding its base
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, has called on the party to prioritize electing its next flagbearer by December 2025.
This, he argues, will allow sufficient time for preparation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Agyepong believes that an early decision will alleviate internal party tensions and help the NPP focus on rebuilding, while mobilizing support for a successful comeback.
His comments come as the NPP evaluates its performance in the 2024 elections and strategizes for the future.
In an interview, Agyepong emphasized the urgency, stating, “I think we should do it by December this year [2025]. It should be done as quickly as possible.”
He further explained that holding the election early would enable the party to expand its base and strengthen its internal structure, setting the stage for a unified front moving forward.
“We would have expanded the base first. We need to build what I’m calling the constituency caucuses. Once we elect a flagbearer, all members must rally behind the candidate,” Agyepong concluded.
