Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, former Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and a notable figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the party to offer an unreserved apology to the people of Ghana following their loss in the 2024 elections.

In his remarks on Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen Show Dr. Kokofu emphasized that the NPP failed to meet the high expectations of Ghanaians, who placed their trust in them.

According to him, this shortcoming warrants a heartfelt apology not only to the general public but also to specific groups who supported the party, including religious bodies, traditional leaders, businesspeople, teachers, and academicians.

Dr. Kokofu stressed that the apology should be unqualified and unconditional, recognizing the party’s failure to deliver on the promises made to the people.

Reflecting on the NPP’s electoral defeat, Kokofu acknowledged that multiple factors contributed to their loss—not just a single issue.

He pointed to internal divisions within the party and governance challenges as significant contributors.

Despite his disappointment, Kokofu took time for personal introspection, admitting that he too needed to assess his role and actions before offering any criticism of the party’s performance.

Looking ahead, the former EPA boss expressed hope that the NPP would take the recommendations from the Mike Oquaye report seriously and work on addressing the issues that led to their electoral downfall.
