The Upper West Regional Police Command has successfully secured a conviction against 19-year-old Adams Hamidu, popularly known as Gyida, who has been sentenced to 20 years of hard labour for his involvement in a robbery.
The Wa Circuit Court handed down the sentence on June 5, 2025.
Back in February 2025, Gyida and an unidentified masked accomplice carried out a robbery, stealing a blue Honda motorcycle valued at GH¢20,000, a Tecno phone worth GH¢1,300, and cash amounting to GH¢10,800.
Thanks to intelligence-led operations, police were able to arrest Gyida on June 1, 2025, in Domowa, located in the Wa West District.
The conviction highlights the Regional Command’s ongoing commitment to protecting the public and enforcing the law.
Authorities have assured residents of their continued efforts to fight crime and maintain safety across the region.
