1,504 Killed, 8,300 Injured in Road Accidents Between January and June 2025 – NSRA

Over 7,200 crashes recorded nationwide, involving more than 12,000 vehicles in six months.

Between January and June 2025, a total of 1,504 people lost their lives in road accidents across Ghana, according to provisional data jointly released by the National Road Safety Authority (NSRA) and the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).

The report revealed that within the six-month period, the country witnessed 7,289 road crashes involving 12,354 vehicles, resulting in 8,300 injuries. Additionally, 1,301 pedestrians were reported to have been knocked down.

The NSRA painted a concerning picture of the daily impact of road accidents in Ghana, stating that on average:

  • 8 people die daily from road crashes,

  • 40 crashes occur nationwide each day,

  • 46 individuals are injured daily, and

  • 69 vehicles and motorcycles are involved in daily accidents.

In light of the alarming figures, the NSRA has renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and heightened public education on road safety to help reverse the growing trend.
